On 22 March, media published details of intended lockdown of non-essential services over the next 48 hours.
We, like everyone else, are awaiting further information from Government about how this will affect this fish market and our retailers.
Based on earlier information provided to us by NSW Health, it is our understanding that as a food supplier, Sydney Fish Market and many of its retailers, do not fall into the category of ‘non-essential’ services.
Therefore, we wish to inform site patrons that the retail stores will be open tomorrow (Monday 23rd March) and until advised otherwise, for provision of fresh seafood and other food items to the public. With multiple seafood retailers as well as an onsite butcher, greengrocer and bakery the site is well positioned to provide efficient services of food.
There is ample parking, space and supply for our shoppers to get what they need.
Likewise, we wish to inform our auction suppliers and buyers that the auction will continue to take place until there is advice to the contrary. We will continue to keep you updated as more information comes to hand.
Stay safe and healthy everyone.
