Did you know that today is National Lobster Day? What better way to celebrate the occasion than popping down to Sydney Fish Market for some of the freshest Australian Rock Lobster available?
Here are five of the delicious options our retailers offer, foregrounding this decadent and coveted species.
Lobster Rolls
The lobster rolls available at the Peters Sydney Fish Market Aburi Bar are line-around-the-block popular for a reason! Each one is individually blowtorched to perfection, and includes mouth-watering lobster meat on a brioche bun, with melted cheese and fresh fish eggs on top.
You can’t go past these rolls for a quick bite as you’re wandering our retailers.
Lobster Tail Sashimi
A lesser known, but no less delicious menu item, available at all our retailers with live tanks, is Lobster Tail Sashimi. To order this, simply choose your live lobster from the tanks, and ask for it to be served 'sashimi-style'. You'll get some zingy wasabi and soy sauce to dip into too.
The fresh, light, sweet flavour of this dish has to be tasted to be believed!
Lobster Noodles
Many of our retailers, including Christie’s, Nicholas, and Peter’s, allow you to choose a lobster from their live tanks, and have it cooked fresh to order!
You can pick your cooking style and flavours too, with options including Ginger and Shallot, Salt and Pepper, Garlic Butter, Singapore Chilli, Oyster Sauce, and XO Sauce.
Served with noodles or fresh vegetables, this style is great for sharing with a few friends, as the portions are extremely generous.
Lobster Mornay
Cheese-lovers can’t go past a Lobster Mornay from one of our hot food retailers… Whoever thought of combining perfectly cooked lobster with a molten blanket of melted cheese deserves a medal.
You’ll normally be served half of a small lobster in this dish, making it the perfect size for one, and giving you to leave plenty of room for the other delicious treats you’ll find at the market.
Garlic Butter Lobster Tails
The name of this dish alone will make your mouth water. Don’t miss adding lobster tails in garlic butter to your lunchtime seafood platter – they are meltingly delicious, scattered with fresh herbs, and always super fresh.
If you’re not quite ready to commit to a full half-lobster, the tails are a smaller and cheaper option that will still hit the spot.
