Although Australia is more known for our saltwater species, our precious reserves of fresh water also hold a variety of wonderful, mostly endemic species. Many of these are available thanks to aquaculture, and many of those as part of a restocking program to aid in bolstering the wild populations of these species. In this way, eating farmed Australian freshwater fish directly assists that species in the wild.
