Mike Bennie is a former lawyer who found the lure of the wine world more compelling than the legal one. Today, when he’s not wandering vineyards on the four corners of the globe, he’s a freelance wine and drinks writer and presenter.
Mike is wine/drinks editor of delicious. Magazine, editor-at-large for interactive wine commentary website, WineFront.com.au, and regular contributor to Australian Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine. He’s also regularly published in Voyeur Virgin Airlines Magazine, Sydney Morning Herald Good Food section, Men’s Style magazine and Wine Business Magazine.
Co-founder of the now-retired artisanal and sustainability-focused Rootstock Sydney Festival, Mike also helped found the wine, beer, spirit and non-alcoholic beverage celebration that is the Drink Easy Awards. He was a local consultant for internationally-famed restaurant Noma during their 2016 Sydney pop-up, educating the restaurant’s team and helping source Australian natural wine, artisanal beer and spirits.
Mike is a graduate of the prestigious Len Evans Tutorial and judges at wine shows in Australia and overseas. He’s also co-founder of the wonderful P&V Wine + Liquor Merchants, a store and educational space in Newtown devoted to artisanal fermented, brewed and distilled products.
