Throughout an illustrious career, Phil Wood has established himself as one of Australia’s best chefs. Beginning his career at Tetsuya’s in Sydney and The French Laundry in the Napa Valley, Phil was then Executive Chef of Rockpool 1989 for eight years, with the restaurant awarded Three Hats and named Gourmet Traveller’s Restaurant of the Year under his leadership. As the inaugural Culinary Director of Pt Leo Estate on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, Phil won New Restaurant of the Year for fine dining restaurant Laura at both the Good Food Guide Awards and Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Awards.
Phil opened Ursula’s Paddington, his first independent restaurant, with his wife in October 2021. The restaurant was awarded two hats in the 2023 and 2024 SMH Good Food Guide Awards.
